I was the PN1/DK/Mailman onboard Impervious from April 1972 until arrival in Mayport FL 1974. Remember the Typhoon we rode out during Operation Endsweep. Everytime we pulled out of Guam the CO and XO would lock themselves in their state rooms and keep their head in the Barf Bag. I was on the USS Impervious from 1965 to about June 1966. I was a boatswain mate seaman. I was injured on February 8, 1966 on the way from San Diego to Hawaii during a typhoon. I was thrown out of the top bunk and hit my head on a floor hatch. I was on the ship during our first patrols off Vietnam and helped us search and sink some junks. I was sent off the ship to the USS Epping Forest MCS 7, Sasebo Japan because of problems due to the head injury. I am still having roblems due to the head injury today. I have a non-paying disability from from the V.A.
